Introducing

"KIDULT"

A Recreational Concept

Recreation Equals RE-Creation!

The Play-Grounds of St. Patrick Parish represents a community infrastructure for varied health and wellness programs that serve multigenerational populations. Through a calendar-based schedule, this project will provide activity-based programs that will engage youth through senior groups of Southeast Arizona. Employee programs for organizations such as City of Bisbee, Bisbee School District, Cochise County Government, Copper Queen Hospital are among many more groups that will benefit from this initiative.

By building a collaborative effort between St. Patrick Parish, Bisbee Vogue, Inc., and the families and individuals of Bisbee, we strive to create a broader experience of preventative medicine by way of fun and play.

Bisbee Outdoor Recreation and Playgrounds

Project Narrative

Who: We intend to attract multigenerational and multicultural families from the surrounding area. This region has many individuals seeking new health and wellness physical activities. A cross organizational collaboration between Bisbee Vogue, Inc. and St Patrick Parish has concluded that a whole person approach is a significant solution for the spiritual, emotional, and physical challenges for wellness in our community.

What: Poor mental health results in obesity, substance misuse, isolation, increase of drug overdose deaths, and a compounding high suicide rate in Cochise County. Low attendance at churches, high dropout rates in high schools, and indifference to public service are all worrisome indicators in our community. Data resources are Journal of the American Medical Association (2004), Cochise Healthy Community Coalition (6/2017), Faculty of Public Health (2022), the World Health Organization (2022).

When: Phase I- Physical Transformation Stage (January-June 2023). Phase II- Preparation Stage (May- September 2023). Phase III- Operation Stage (September 2023-January 2025).

Where: St Patrick Parish in the heart of Old Bisbee, adjacent to Cochise County Superior Court an elevated 70’ x 150’ fenced, secured, historic playground. The address is 100 Quality Hill, and the surrounding parking lot has 50 parking spots, making this an ideal location for participants.

Why: Because the health of a community is dependent on the health of the individuals, this program will address the identified health issues of Southern Arizona. These include growing rates of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Preventable causes of death, such as physical inactivity, poor diet, tobacco smoking, and misuse of drugs and alcohol will be addressed. According to Dr. Melody Ding, School of Public Health, Sydney (2016); "Physical inactivity is recognized as a global pandemic that not only leads to diseases and early deaths but imposes a major burden to the economy.".
